The surrogacy journey is so often focused on the women’s roles - the Intended Mother and the Surrogate. The reality of the situation is that the men behind the scenes are vital to the success of the journey for so many reasons. They give us the green light with full support knowing the reasons we become surrogates outweigh the risks. They take the brunt of what the hormones do to our emotions. They tell us we’re beautiful when we gain pregnancy weight and don’t feel pretty. They take on extra roles in the household when we need to rest. They take the kids to go play when we don’t feel good. They build a relationship with the intended parents- completing the beautiful bond that forms. They are by your side when the big day comes and you both watch a couple become a family. They are still there after the birth when we are healing physically, mentally and emotionally.

I love and am so thankful for the support I received from my husband during our journey and that he continues to be a part of Delivering Hope. He was happy to share his perspective on surrogacy for this post in a short video.
